The Solundeer

After visiting the island Solund in Norway for the first time I immediatly knew I wanted to tell a story about this grim but wonderful and special place.

Local people told me stories about the old days, when people walked through storms and rough weather to their destinations, and knew how to live with the elements.

And so the story unvolded almost by itself, and the idea was born to write this musical story about a young boy: Eywind, who meets nature in a special way.

This project started in November 2002, and was finished in 2008.  Most of the songs are written and recorded in Hardbakke when i lived there in 2005, other songs ( School, Lost, HOT, Epilogue) are recorded in a later stadium.

Since this is a non-profit project, all songs are available on this site, a CD is available as well, but I charge a small fee to compensate the production costs (CD itself, paper and artwork and shipping costs).

So, sit back, grab those headphones, a good glas of wine and enjoy the story, hopefully as much as I did making and writing it!

Thanks:

Very special thanks go to my beloved Jolanda, for her input and comments on the musical in the final stages, and of course for doing the storytelling and voice acting in the piece.

I also want to thank Gunn and Kjell Mongstad, for having us over and let us use their studio for the recording of the voice over.

And of course I would like to thank my parents for endless listening to new versions of The Solundeer over and over again.
